A Prayer for the New Year

New Year’s Prayer
Author Unknown
Printed in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church Bulletin January 1, 2012

God of our yesterdays, our today and our tomorrows, we praise You for Your greatness.

Thank You for the year behind us and for the year ahead.

Help us this New Year to fret less and laugh more.

Help us to teach our children to laugh by laughing with them,
to teach others to love by loving them.

Help us to hear Your love song in the chirping of the sparrows in our backyards,
in the stories of our old folks and the fantasies of our children.

We rejoice in the world You loved into being.

Thank You for another New Year and new chances every day.

We pray for peace, for light and for hope, that we might spread them to others.

AMEN

Hi Debra! Those postcards are so neat with the year 1913 on them. Perfect for this post. I featured antique New Year's postcards on my blog that I just posted yesterday, you'll have to take a look. Have a blessed New Year! Gina

These post cards are so special, as they go back many years, and the New Years prayer is special. Do you know that I go to St. Peter and St. Paul Church in my town? I hope the new year brings you peace and joy, and I am so glad to have met you.
