What attracts you to a particular doll?  The facial expression certainly has to be endearing.  After that, I personally look at the hair for a style that brings personality to the doll.  At Doll in the Looking Glass, we offer you some wig styles that you don't see on every other doll shop website.

Yoga Girl, currently available in our boutique, has a sleek chin length page boy with a braid across the top.  A simple hairstyle with a bit of extra charm for a busy toddler.

Our ethnic toddler, Lady Bug, also features braided hair.  This baby's curly hair is styled into a head full of small braids -- each tied with a red bow.

These featured dolls are just two of the options available at our boutique where you can create a custom designed doll.

Are you a genealogist who has experienced the frustration of searching through microfilm copies of archived newspapers in order to piece together your family history?  I've just become aware of a source for digitalized versions of newspapers.  GenealogyBank.com has over 5,500 newspapers that are fully searchable as an aid for locating birth, marriage, death and general news articles to support your genealogy research.

On August 17, 2011, I participated in a webcast on this topic sponsored by Legacy Family Tree.  They have posted a recording of the webcast that can be replayed for free during the next 10 days.  From the The Legacy Family Tree website you can also register for upcoming free webinars of interest to genealogists.

This forum reveals random thoughts and reflections on topics of interest and events impacting the life of the founder of Doll in the Looking Glass.   Our boutique specializes in custom designed dolls that look like your child. We also design toddler and baby dolls that look real using vinyl doll components manufactured in Midland, Michigan USA by Apple Valley Doll Works.  The goal of Doll in the Looking Glass is to delight our customers with our creations.

Doll in the Looking Glass has named this collectible doll Lavender Ice inspired by the pale color of her dress.  Dress features pointe d'esprit netting with an embroidered collar accenting the bodice.  Neckline, sleeves and skirt are trimmed with venice lace.  An extra-wide lace on the underskirt enhances the fullness of the dress.

Lavender Ice is a dramatic beauty with Victorian Blue eyes and Dark Brown-Black hair upswept into small ringlets on top.  This specialty doll was created using the Jilly Bean expression from Apple Valley Dolls.  She stands 24 inches tall as a result of her custom made doe-skin body with fully hinged arms and legs.   Additional photos have been posted to our website in the Ready to Love category.
