Welcome to Summer

Won't you put on your sunglasses
and join me for a garden stroll
to welcome the official start of Summer.

Lollypop is the name of this hardy lily.

This insect found a perfect resting spot.

Stella de Oro is a popular variety of daylily to plant in Midland.  You see this plant everywhere.
I've planted mine near our Japanese Maple for contrast.

The golden-yellow flowers lean toward the sun
in our partially shady yard.

The Grape-O-Licious Wishbone Flower
is an annual in our region.
This is the first season I have seen this plant available
in our local nursery.

A closeup of the delicate blooms features
the deep purple throat of this plant.

We'll stop a moment to admire the Royal Candles Speedwell.
The purple flower spikes
match the sunglasses worn by today's tour guide.

I'd love to hear about the plants
that welcome Summer into your garden.
Please leave a  comment.

Until next time, live and love well.

Thanks for visiting me and leaving a nice comment! I love your uunusual lilies and that pretty wishbone flower is new to me. A local flower expert says you can stuff the daylilies with cream cheese and eat them.
I used to make porcelain dolls in my ceramics studio. I like your dolly with her little sunglasses!
My garden is new, just moved here last summer, but I have the most gorgeous deep-purple hydrangea, and two huge crepe myrtles, lots of hostas, astilbe and huechera (sp?), and sedum that I brought with me. I planted some cosmos and put some impatiens and begonias in and around the hostas. All my herbs are potted on the patio. Oh, I have a bouganvillia, and a banana tree too!
Blessings!

Hello Debra-
Thanks for visiting my blog! The doll in the garden is adorable! My Mom would love to see that! She started making dolls when she was in a ceramics course and had quite a bundle of them. She's given some away but still has some. She made their outfits too! Are you here in Michigan? You mentioned Midland and we have a Midland, Michigan. Your flowers look lovely! I just posted something new which included my Stella d'Oro's also but I didn't get out my good camera!
I'll have to check out your store page.

Hi Debra!

Your garden tour guide is stunning in her pretty garden party dress and sunglasses.

You have many pretty flowers and I love your photography skills... capturing that little teeny tiny aphid on the lily.

My garden has fizzled out with the 110 degree weather. The heat of summer is like your winter where plants go dormant.

Thanks for sharing at my party :)

xoxo Bunny Jean
